How to Extract Text from an Image (Image to Text)

A screenshot of an email, a photo of a sign, a scanned receipt — all of them lock their words inside pixels. To get that text out so you can copy or edit it, you need OCR, which recognizes characters in an image and turns them into real text.

OCR works best on clear images: sharp focus, good contrast, and text that is roughly horizontal. Cropping out the background and straightening a tilted photo noticeably improves accuracy.

To extract text from an image with PdfWill: put your image into a PDF first, then run the OCR tool to recognize and pull out the text, all in your browser with nothing uploaded.

Once you have the text, PDF to Word turns it into an editable document. And image to PDF is the quickest way to wrap a stack of pictures into one file for recognition.
